The students in the course will use this understanding to become more effective in their ministry contexts. One requirement of the course is that the students collect a limited amount of data in a natural context. The students will collect this information in the form of: o Observation notes o Interviews o Documents and records o Questionnaires or surveys (optional) This information will be analyzed by the students, and they will write a short report which will be submitted to the professor. The primary purpose of this assignment is to practice the qualitative research techniques discussed in the class. A secondary purpose is to learn about the context that they are studying. My name is Kristy Trent, and I am currently a homeschooling parent as well as leader in the homeschool community. I am working toward a master’s degree in Evangelism and Leadership, and I hope to use my education to serve the homeschooling community more effectively in the future. If you wish to find out more about this research project, you may contact Dr. Rick Richardson, Professor of Evangelism and Leadership at Wheaton College (rick.richardson@wheaton.edu). The focus of this research project is to discover how evangelism is being taught and practiced within homeschooling families in the hopes of developing tools and materials to help lead parents in discipling their children. Any information gathered will only be used to provide data for this research project. It will not be used for any other reason or purpose. Pseudonyms will be used in the final report and some defining details may be changed to protect privacy. And, all participants have the right to exclude any statements or topics made. The survey results will be gathered and kept secure throughout the research project, and participants are giving consent for their answers to be recorded for this project. In addition, interviews will be given to a few participants who opt in for further contact. Interview participants agree to recording and transcription. All recordings, survey results, and transcriptions will be kept secure and private. The information gathered in this project will be used to fulfill the course requirement for EVAN 573. It will not be published in any form without the consent of the people involved in the observations and interviews. The graduate student will respect and follow all rules and procedures in the context. Because this is voluntary and confidential, you are not required to participate and will not be punished or rewarded for your answers. If you feel anxiety or any other emotional discomfort with a question, you do not have to answer it. You may request to see the student’s observation notes and interview transcripts from your interview. Agreement to the interview constitutes consent for inclusion in the study/results.Signature(Required) Δ
